Dr. Pamela Louise M. Tolentino is a Research Associate in Fluvial Geomorphology at the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. She earned her PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Glasgow, her MS in Geology her BS in Biology, both from the University of the Philippines.
With over a decade of professional experience, Dr. Tolentino has worked extensively in the fields of geomorphology, water resources management, and geospatial applications. She served as Supervising Science Research Specialist under the NERC-DOST Newton Catchment Project and as Project Manager and Research Consultant at the Environment Monitoring Laboratory, National Institute of Geological Sciences, University of the Philippines Diliman. She has also been a dedicated resource person for the Department of Science and Technology–Science Education Institute, contributing to programs such as the Science Explorer Bus, Geo-Marine Summer Camp, Hyundai New Thinkers Summit, and the National Science and Technology Week.
Her research interests include fluvial geomorphology, GIS, project management, and water resources management, which she actively integrates into collaborative research and community-based initiatives.
Dr. John Dale Dianala is an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Geological Sciences, University of the Philippines Diliman, where he heads the Earthquake Geodesy and Geology Laboratory. He earned his PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom as a British Council–CHED Newton Agham Scholar, his MS in Geology from UP Diliman, and his BS in Geology, cum laude, also from UP Diliman as a DOST Merit Scholar.
Dr. Dianala specializes in earthquakes and tectonics, fault behavior, and seismic hazards, with additional expertise in remote sensing, geodesy, and multi-hazard studies. His MS thesis focused on seismicity and static stress transfer during the Negros and Bohol earthquakes. He has been serving as a faculty member at UP since 2016, progressing from Instructor to tenure-track Assistant Professor. He also teaches courses on earthquakes, crustal deformation, hazards, computer methods in geology, and geoscience data analysis.
In 2024, he was awarded the Séjours Scientifiques de Haut Niveau (SSHN) scholarship as a Visiting Researcher at École normale supérieure – PSL in Paris, France. Beyond his research, he is deeply committed to science communication and education, advancing public awareness of seismic risks in the Philippines.
