Bridging Innovation and Market: Catalyzing Technology Transfer and Commercialization for National Development

NAPOLEON K. JUANILLO, JR. obtained his MS, and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Extension, College of Agriculture and Life Science at Cornell University. He was formerly Assistant Professor at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was twice a recipient of competitive research grants from the Illinois Council for Food and Agricultural Research. He was Dean, College of Arts and Sciences and Director for Research, Planning and Resource Development at San Beda University. He has done consulting work globally with World Health Organization, United Nations Fund for Population Activities, UNICEF, International Service for the Acquisition of Agribiotech Applications, United States Department of Agriculture, and the United States Agency for International Development where he served as Chief-of-Party. He was Senior Advisor for the USAID-STRIDE project. 

An entrepreneur, he is President/CEO of the Bicol AccessHealth Centrum and Hospital; Founder, The NewFields STEM Schools, and Founder/ CEO of The Institutes for Research, Innovation and Scholarship (The IRIS). 

In government, he served as Assistant Secretary for Competitiveness and Innovation of the Department of Trade and Industry and as Director IV, Office of Planning, Research and Knowledge Management at the Commission on Higher Education. He was the Senior Consultant at the National Economic Development Authority for the chapter on Research and Development, Technology and Innovation of the Philippine Development Plan, 2023-2028. He currently serves as Assistant Secretary for Technology Transfer and Commercialization at the Department of Science and Technology.
