Innovating Agricultural and Aquatic Systems: Research and Development for a Resilient and Sustainable Future

Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora formally joined PCAARRD on February 16, 2015, as its Acting Executive Director after having been formally sworn in by Secretary Mario G. Montejo of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

As PCAARRD’s top executive, Dr. Ebora leads the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development in the formulation of framework, thrusts, and programs for the development of the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources sectors as well as the generation and allocation of funds for this purpose.

Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora earned his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Master’s degree in Entomology from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He completed his PhD in Entomology at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, USA. Additionally, he pursued an International Postgraduate Course in Microbiology at Osaka University in Japan and furthered his studies as a Visiting Fellow in Intellectual Property Management and Technology Transfer at the ISAAA AmeriCenter/Department of Plant Breeding, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA.

Before his appointment as Executive Director of PCAARRD, Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora served as the Executive Director of the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD). He also held the position of Director at the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB-BIOTECH), where he played a pivotal role in the commercialization and technology transfer of BIOTECH’s products.

Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora has received numerous accolades for his contributions to science and technology, including the Outstanding Science Administrator Award (Dioscoro Umali Medal) from the National Academy of Science and Technology and the Outstanding Technology Commercialization Award (Gregorio Y. Zara Medal). In 2016, he was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award in Science and Technology by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association. Most recently, he received the 2022 Joon S. Moon Distinguished International Alumni Award from Michigan State University, recognizing his global impact in the field.
